When I say I got to photograph a family in Russell, New Zealand, it’s not just any ordinary family. This was a lively bunch, beer in hand, who came all the way from Australia to meet up with their kiwi relatives in Russell. As a Family Photographer Russell, I was excited to capture the unique personalities and the special bond between them.

The long road

I hopped on the ferry from Paihia, enjoying the cool breeze and the stunning view of the Bay of Islands. Once I reached Russell, I knew I was in for a treat. The family was already there, dressed in coordinated outfits that matched the stunning scenery. We started our shoot up Flagstaff Hill, and the golden hour light made everything look magical. I clicked away, capturing the warmth, love and laughter….. a lot of laughter and shenanigans.

After we finished up on Flagstaff Hill, we headed over the hill to Waihihi Bay, which was near where the family was staying. This location was equally beautiful, with a serene beach and rocky outcroppings that made for great photo opportunities.

Russell is pretty magic

I couldn’t help but feel lucky to work in such a beautiful place. Russell is a photographer’s dream come true, with breathtaking scenery and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to capture great shots. It’s no wonder why so many people choose Russell as their holiday destination.
